Six players scored in double figures for Berkeley College, as the Knights won their 30th consecutive home contest dating back to the 2014-2015 season with a convincing 101-43 drubbing of The King's College (NY) on Wednesday evening. The contest took place at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. With the victory, Berkeley is now 5-2 on the 2018-2019 campaign (1-0 HVIAC), while the Lions dipped to 3-4 (0-3 HVIAC).
The Knights' dominance in HVIAC competition continued tonight, as Berkeley won its 31st consecutive regular season conference game. Remarkably, only five of those 31 games were decided by nine points or less.
In tonight's triumph, six Berkeley College players scored in double figures, including Nicholas Cora, as he connected on eight of his 13 attempts from the floor, finishing the game with 16 points. He also snatched 13 rebounds, while adding three assists and three steals. Shamiek Sheppard recorded 16 points, five rebounds, and three assists, and Darius Ward contributed with 15 points and three assists. Nigel Hemingway, Deylon Bovell, and Dequan Jones scored 15, 11, and 10 points, respectively.
The Lions were paced by Tyler Bowens, as he drilled 17 of his 20 attempts at the free throw line, finishing with a game-high 25 points. He also collected nine rebounds, as well. Jordan Bishop played 31 minutes and contributed six points and nine rebounds in a losing effort.
Berkeley shot 50 percent from the floor in this game (42-84) while holding the Lions to just an 18.6 percent conversion rate (11-59). The Knights dominated on the glass, collecting 57 rebounds compared to just 40 for the Lions. Berkeley also won the turnover battle, committing 16 miscues while forcing 24 opposition mistakes.
The Knights will look to make it three in a row on Saturday night, as Berkeley will take to the road to battle Washington Adventist. Start-time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
