The Berkeley College men's basketball team finalized the month of January by splitting the final six contests of the month, as the team's record moved to 9-13 on the 2025-2026 campaign (5-6 NACIA). The Knights' triumphs included a 101-88 win at Five Towns College (January 15), and home triumphs of over Bryant & Stratton-Albany (100-99 on January 17), and Bryant & Stratton-Rochester (71-64 on January 31). Berkeley's three losses in that span included an 82-72 setback against Bryant & Stratton (Ohio), a 93-80 loss at Bloomfield (January 27), and a 98-82 home loss against Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse (January 30).
January 15, 2026: Berkeley 101, Five Towns 88
Five players scored in double figures for the Knights in their victory over the Sound, including Yasin Abdur-Rashid, as he connected on six triples, tying for the game-high of 24 points. He also dished three assists, swiped three steals, and collected two rebounds. DaMarco Watson finalized his evening with 19 points, seven assists, and three boards, and Justin Umunakwe added 18 points, four rebounds, and two steals. Deontay Sprattley finalized his evening with 14 points, a game-high 10 assists, seven rebounds, and a game-high five steals, and Emmanuel Mayfield contributed 11 points and four boards.
Despite the loss for the Sound, Khamari Broomfield tied for the game-high of 24 points (11-18 FG) while also leading all Five Towns players with three steals. He contributed two assists, as well. Tayron Bangs netted 16 points, dished four assists, and snatched three rebounds, and Joaquan Thomas posted a double-double, scoring 13 points and collecting a team-high 12 rebounds, and Najeon Ward scored 11 points and registered a team-high seven assists.
The Knights dominated the first half of play, going up by as many as 26 points (56-30), before heading into the locker room with a 21-point cushion (58-37).
In the second half, Five Towns College made things interesting, pulling to within 14, 82-68, following a converted triple by Tyrese Grant with 6:34 remaining. Berkeley responded to that with five consecutive points by Abdur-Rashid to go back ahead 87-68 with just under five minutes to play. The hosts never got closer than 13 points down the rest of the way, as Berkeley went on to within the game, 101-88.
Both teams shot very well from the floor, with Five Towns earning a conversion rate of 50 percent (37-74), while Berkeley connected on 39 out of 81 shot attempts (48.1 percent). The Knights held advantages in rebounding (50-38) and steals (12-9), while both squads dished 23 assists apiece. The Sound won the turnover battle slightly, committing 14 miscues, while Berkeley finished with 15.
January 16, 2026: Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) 82, Berkeley 72
Despite Berkeley's loss to Bryant & Stratton (Ohio), Umunakwe scored a game-high 27 points, while tying for the team-high of 10 rebounds. Watson posted a double-double, netting 18 points and tying for the team-high of 10 rebounds. He also dished two assists and swiped two steals, and Abdur-Rashid netted 14 points, led all Knights with three steals, and compiled two assists.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was Greg Thurman, as he paced his squad with a team-high 23 points, hitting three triples in the process. He also collected seven rebounds, and tied for the game-high of four assists. Detric Hearst scored 21 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. He also added three assists and two steals.
In a very competitive, low-scoring first half of play, Berkeley took a 33-32 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Bobcats dominated the final 20 minutes of action, however, outscoring the Knights 50-39 to account for the 10-point margin of victory (82-72).
Bryant & Stratton (Ohio) connected on 50 percent of its attempts from the floor (32-64), while the Knights nailed just 25 of 76 shot attempts (32.9 percent). The visitors held advantages in rebounds (46-36) and assists (16-11), but the Knights held a 9-5 edge in steals.
January 27, 2026: Bloomfield 93, Berkeley 80
Watson connected on seven of eight free throws, as he tied for the team-high of 18 points. His nine assists also led all players, and his eight rebounds were a team-high. Sprattley tied for the team-high of 18 points while snatching six rebounds, and Abdur-Rashid finalized his evening with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Finally, it was Umunakwe finalizing his evening with 11 points and six rebounds.
Four players scored in double figures for the victorious Bears, including Cameron Mcrae, as he scored 20 points while dishing a game-high eight assists. He also snatched four rebounds and swiped a pair of steals. Jahi Whitney netted 18 points while snatching three rebounds, and Marcus Bucknall posted a double-double with 16 points, a game-high 18 rebounds, and two assists. Finally, Zamorian Singleton finalized his evening with 13 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
The Bears took their biggest lead of the contest with six seconds remaining in the opening half when Brandon Hendryx buried a layup to put Bloomfield ahead 58-34. That would be the score as the teams entered the locker room at halftime.
Berkeley was able to get to within 16 (83-67) with just under seven minutes to play, but Bloomfield was able to contain the Knights the rest of the way, eventually going on to capture the contest by 13 points (93-80).
Bloomfield was the more efficient team shooting the basketball, as the Bears connected on 42.5 percent of their attempts from the floor (34-80), while the Knights earned a conversion rate of 37.2 percent (29-78). The Bears held a slim 53-50 advantage in the rebounding department, while also dishing 19 assists to Berkeley's 15. Each team swiped six steals and blocked one shot. The hosts won the turnover battle, committing 13 miscues, while the Knights had 17.
January 30, 2026: Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse 98, Berkeley 82
Sprattley scored a game-high 31 points while collecting five rebounds to lead the Knights despite the loss. Watson added 24 points, four rebounds, and a pair of steals, and Abdur-Rashid finalized his evening with 10 points.
Pacing Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse was Matthew Cleveland, as he registered game-highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds. Jordan Drain scored 16 points, dished a game-high six assists, and snatched six rebounds, and Justin Carrington registered 13 points, collected three boards, and added two dimes. Finally, it was DeCoursey Corley scoring 12 points, snatching four boards, and swiping two steals.
Things looked promising for the Knights early, as Berkeley held a 10-point advantage (14-4) following a Watson layup just 3:12 into the game. A 16-5 run by the visitors over the ensuing 5:43 put Bryant & Stratton ahead 20-19. The teams would exchange the lead 10 more times for the remainder of the half, with the final pendulum swing coming when Khai Pugh knocked down a triple at the buzzer to put the Bobcats up 48-47 at halftime.
Through the opening 8:35 of the second half, the Bobcats and Knicks would exchange the lead four more times, with the final switch coming when Cleveland connected on a triple with 11:25 left to put the visitors ahead 66-63. Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse would outscore Berkeley 32-19 for the remainder of the evening to solidify a 16-point victory (98-82).
The Bobcats drained 31 out of 61 shot attempts (50.8 percent), while Berkeley earned a conversion rate of 39.5 percent (30-76). The visitors dominated the glass, collecting 51 rebounds, while the hosts pulled down just 23, and Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse held a 5-4 edge in steals, and a 3-0 edge in blocked shots. The Knights won the turnover battle, committing just eight miscues, while the Bobcats had 21.
January 31, 2026: Berkeley 71, Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) 64
Four players scored in double figures for Berkeley College in its victory, including Umunakwe, as he scored a game-high 21 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists. Watson nearly registered a triple-double, as he scored 18 points, led all players with 15 rebounds and eight assists, and Abdur-Rashid finalized his evening with 18 points, three assists, two rebounds, and a pair of steals. Finally, it was Sprattley posting a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while contributing four assists.
The visitors were paced by Aaron Stewart, as he posted team-highs of 19 points and eight rebounds. Brennon Celious and Kai Henderson contributed nine points apiece, and Jaral Farmer netted seven points while snatching a team-best 12 rebounds. He also added two dimes, as well.
Berkeley trailed Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) 32-29 after 20 minutes of action, but the Knights outscored the Bobcats 42-32 in the second half to register a seven-point, come-from-behind victory (71-64) to snap a two-game losing skid.
The teams shot nearly an identical percentage, with Berkeley converting on 35.7 percent of its shot attempts (25-70), and the Bobcats nailing 35.2 percent of theirs (25-71). Berkeley held a healthy 54-44 edge on the glass, while also holding a 20-15 edge in assists. Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) held a 5-4 advantage in steals, and the teams blocked one shot apiece. The visitors also won the turnover battle, committing 11 miscues, while the Knights finished with 15.
