NJ Men's Soccer earns victory over Bloomfield, plays to tie with Five Towns

The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team continued its impressive early-season performance in recent NACIA matches. Back on Wednesday evening, September 10, the Knights shutout the Bears of Bloomfield by a score of 5-0 at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, NJ. Then, this past Tuesday at Five Towns College, the Knights and the Sound played to a 0-0 deadlock, keeping Berkeley undefeated on the season, and keeping the Knights' streak of not allowing a goal intact. Overall, Berkeley is now 3-0-1 on the 2025 campaign (1-0-1 NACIA).

Wednesday, September 10: Berkeley 5, Bloomfield 0

The Knights dominated the Bears in this contest from start to finish, scoring all five of their goals in the opening half. Hector Castro scored two goals, and Steven Urbes, Nickolas DaCosta, and Bryson Strohecker each accounted for a tally. Earning assists on the evening for Berkeley were Urbes, Elvin Rios, Ian Pallardel, Castro, and Jose Vasquez De La Cruz.

Berkeley's fantastic defense held Bloomfield to just three shots on the day, while the Knights finished with 16 blasts. Starting goalkeeper Victor Batista earned the victory between the pipes, logging 73 minutes of shutout action while making one save. Jack Giannini played the final 17 minutes, facing only one shot and making a save.

Tuesday, September 16: Berkeley 0, Five Towns College 0

In what was a very competitive NACIA contest, the Knights and Sound played to a 0-0 deadlock. Berkeley held a 12-8 advantage in shots, but both defenses, and both goaltenders, were up to task.

Batista finished with six saves on the afternoon for the visiting Knights, while Jose Garcia made nine stops for Five Towns College.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, September 20, as Berkeley will take on Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse in another NACIA contest. Start-time at Hinchliffe Stadium is scheduled for 6:00pm.
