The Berkeley College New Jersey men's soccer team saw its quest for its first USCAA Division I National title come to an end in recent days, as the Knights dropped matches to No. 1 seeded Bryant & Stratton (Syracuse) 2-1, and Salem University, 6-1. The matches took place at the AHN Mountour Sports Complex in Coraopalis, PA. With that aforementioned output, Berkeley College New Jersey wrapped-up its 2025 campaign with a record 9-7-2.
November 14, 2025: Bobcats 2, Knights 1
The opening half of the first game of the tournament produced minimal offense, as the Bobcats and Knights combined to take just five shots in the opening 45 minutes (four courtesy of Berkeley College-NJ), but the one shot that Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse found the back of the net. Alvaro Carrera-Aguirre earned the goal for the No. 1 seeded Bobcats, slashing a ball home in the 27th minute (26:23). At the half, Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse led 1-0.
In the second session, Carrera-Aguirre struck again, boosting his team's edge to a pair of goals by netting a tally at 60:31. A little over 20 minutes later (at 80:37), the Knights' Jose Vasquez De La Cruz scored to cut his team's deficit in half (2-1).
Later, with 43 seconds remaining in the match, Steven Urbes' shot attempt was saved by Antonio Costa, as that proved to be the last gasp for Berkeley. Time expired shortly thereafter, giving the Bobcats a 2-1 triumph.
Costa earned the victory in net for Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse, allowing just the one goal while making four saves. Victor Batista took the defeat in net, allowing two goals while making five stops.
The teams combined for nine shots apiece on the afternoon.
November 15, 2025: Tigers 6, Knights 1
Salem University struck first in the early stages of the pivotal contest, as Ahmad Hijaz converted a penalty kick to put the Tigers up 1-0. The Knights responded with a goal from Samuel Gomez in the 15th minute, knotting the match at a goal apiece, as it appeared as though the stage was set for a thriller.
After the teams headed into the locker room with the score tied 1-1, Salem University's offense broke out in a big way across the final 45 minutes of action. Tigers standout Caleb Christner netted two quick goals in the 46th and 56th minutes to give Salem a 3-1 advantage.
Later, Valentin Fritz ballooned Salem's lead to three with a tally in the 59th minute. Copper West (62nd minute goal, penalty kick) and Aguilar Renovales (77th minute goal) rounding out the scoring as Salem went on to defeat Berkeley-NJ, 6-1.
Salem netminder Jason Barrientos made seven saves on the afternoon while yielding just the one goal. Berkeley-NJ's goalkeeper Victor Batista faced 26 shots, conceding 6 goals while making 8 saves.
The Tigers registered 26 shots for the game, while Berkeley-NJ finished with 15.
