The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its All-Conference team this past Sunday, and Berkeley College New York women's soccer's Mike Butler was tabbed as the 2014 Coach of the Year.
Butler – who just completed his third season as the head man for the Knights – did an admirable job of keeping the team motivated and engaged during a challenging campaign that saw Berkeley struggle to obtain a victory. Despite the Knights' hardships during the season, Butler's encouragement and positivity went a long way in keeping the morale of the team high. Following the announcement, Butler gave his thoughts.
"Being selected as the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year says a lot about my peers and how they value the aspects of coaching which go beyond wins and losses," Butler said. "It certainly is very humbling to have this honor bestowed upon me, and my focus will on the improvement and progression of the program in 2015."
The Knights are scheduled to open up their 2015 regular season with a non-conference game against the Cardinals of York College.
