Cross Country teams turn in valiant efforts at 13th Annual New Jersey Institute of Technology Challenge on Saturday

The Berkeley College men's and women's cross country teams continued their season this past Saturday, competing in the 13th Annual New Jersey Institute of Technology Cross Country Challenge. Both teams put forth hearty efforts, recording some very impressive finishes. It was also the fourth consecutive meet to start the 2016 campaign that both teams were able to score.

On the men's side, Berkeley College finished 20th amongst 21 participating schools.Newcomer Anthony Argueta put forth yet another fantastic effort for his team, as he finished in 29th place overall in the men's 8K race, crossing the finish line in 28:07.71. Aaron Griffith and Stanley Jeantly finished 150th and 161st amongst all scoring runners with times of 36:18.75 and 38:04.54, respectively, and Albert Jordan (163rd - 38:25.48) and Marc Pharon (178th – 49:33) rounded out things for the men.

For Berkeley College women's team, the Knights finished 19th out of 20 participating schools. Pamela Andrade led the way for her team, as she finished 113th amongst all scoring runners, finishing at 24:14.06. Amanda Ekornes recoded a 142nd place finish, as she crossed the line at 27:30.28, and Melissa Ramirez completed the women's 5K course with a time of 27:43.39. Osmairy Cordero and Megan Montanez finished in 146th and 147th place, respectively, with times of 28:14.85 and 28:16.92. Rounding out the female runners was Marilyn Contreras, as she finished in 149th place by completing the course in 28:35.10.

Berkeley College's cross country teams will return to action this Saturday, as the Knights will participate in the Caldwell Univerity Cougar Chase. The men's race begins at 3:00pm, followed by the women's race at 3:45pm.
